Brilliant in every detail!

By far, this is one of the most disturbing, most haunting films I've ever watched. The director is a genius.

Fascinating film. I'm glad that the son couldn't come up with a "good" answer as to why he did what he did; this mirrors reality in that there really is no acceptable "reason" why someone would engage in such acts other than a deep mental and emotional disconnect. And yes, my heart aches for ...Read more

Why is this movie edited??? How you dare to offer an "edited" version of it? THIS WAS such a FIASCO People if you want to watch movies chose other sources! VERY disappointing!

Hi Edith. What part did they edit? Where can I find the unabridged version?

Terrifying and intense movie. The book by Lionel Shriver is also excellent. The casting in this is so on point.

Good Movie. Kevin scared me and had real mental issues. I wish you would have seen the parents seeking more help for him early on you could see something was wrong. What an amazing actress the mother was showing her love no matter what to her son even is she was scared, hurt or angry.....I ...Read more

This hit home too much for me. I supposed that's why I wanted to watch it.

RAMONA, I have been watching movies day and night. DAY AND NIGHT. For five months? DO you know why? Because sometimes in life, you assess what is reliable and what is not in your life. People come and people go. THis movie really is fantastic for two reasons. Because of the cinematography. ...Read more

One of the few genuinely terrifying movies. The opening shot, which I can only describe as an interpretive human blender dance, is one of the most visceral representations of the psychopathic mind I've ever seen. The sound of this movie alone is the stuff of nightmares. Fair warning, for some ...Read more

This movie was excruciating to watch. With all the school shootings that have happened in the past years, it's just very hard to watch this. The father is clueless and won't listen to his wife about their son's problems, so when he kills people, all the blame falls on the mother. The kid ...Read more

The restrained use of dialogue really lends itself well to the present mindstate of Tilda Swinton's character. Gobsmacked to have seen so many signs indicated her sons troubled nature. Ostracized in a community, while trying to pick up the pieces of her shattered life. And who would think ...Read more

I read this In this Golden Globe-nominated psychological thriller, Oscar-winner Tilda Swinton plays Eva, the mother to her deeply disturbed son Kevin (Ezra Miller). Eva contends with her clueless husband (John C. Reilly) and her son's malevolent ways as the narrative builds to a chilling and ...Read more

Too slow. Not enough dialogue. Gave up after 15 minutes.

Goodness Denise, you have to try harder than that!
It's a slow build but certainly worth it. I loved every minute.
I understand it's not for everyone, but not everything can be oversaturated with dialogue and action.

Gripping, unconventional. emotionally challenging, very sad story. Tilda Swinton shows why she is one off the great actors of our time.

I felt that the actors tried their best with this film. The ending was jumbled and messy but I did feel the creepiness throughout the film and I did feel sympathetic to the female lead.

Style over substance. Entirely disjointed by rapid-fire flashbacks. There's a good story in there, but this director uses all the cliché art-house film tricks, to ill effect.

Hm.

Very creepy film. I would have got help for him and the clueless husband a long time ago.

Too drawn out, confusing time line, unclear scenes.

In this deeply disturbing film, Lynne Ramsay cements herself as a formidable auteur of 21st century cinema. Though the narrative here is gritty and "realist," everything from Ramsay's use of color and music, to the way she casts her characters, work together to create a particularly surreal, ...Read more

Watched it because it was critically acclaimed, and though it was intense I felt disappointed. I didn't care about any of the characters, in the end.

It's impressive you could get through this film and not feel empathetic towards Tilda Swinton's character lol

Anonymous picture
Kimberly

Thank you for finding me impressive, lol. It has been a few months since I have seen it, but I remember her character as quite ugly. She was able to love one of her children but not the other, and made sure it showed. She was privileged and educated, but not emotionally intelligent and did ...Read more

Definitely do not ever want to have a child after seeing this. Also, really boring film, based on cliches. No thrills here.

A woman, a mother, a wife, gutted like a fish on screen. Tilda Swinton has set the standard until further notice. Astonishing.

I thought the book was so good, I wasn't sure how it would translate to film, but it has been adapted very well. Certainly a very uncomfortable story for any parent to digest...and agree wholeheartedly with the Tilda Swinton fans below - she is amazing!

A powerful and sad thriller. Tilda Swinton is out-of-this-world good! Ezra Miller is a powerful young actor to watch out for.
